From one Mehari to another, the mutations of a mythical car over time

Discover the little sisters of the traditional Mehari, the electric Mehari and the solar Mehari !

The Mehari, a revolutionary car

A 2CV engine with a plastic body weighing 35 kilos, but who had this idea exactly? A certain Count Roland de la Poype, hero of the Second World War and outstanding aviator, who became after the war...a plastic industrialist, with just as much success. It is him who imagines this new model of car with the collaboration of the designer Jean-Louis Barrault and the industrialist Jean Darpin. A mythical vehicle if ever there was one, the Mehari was produced by the Citroën factories for some twenty years.

In Arabic, "Mehari" refers to an expedition camel from the Sahara desert. Like the animal after which it was named, the Mehari has come a long way: presented on May 16, 1968 in Deauville, the launch of the Mehari under the cobblestones of the Latin Quarter in the midst of a student revolt went virtually unnoticed!

The Mehari had several destinies: beach car and utility vehicle for some, it became a military vehicle for the police and the gendarmerie, and was even used as a "school car" for military service recruits learning to drive!

By the way...Do you remember the appearance of the Mehari in the Gendarme of Saint-Tropez?

From one revolution to another

If the creators of the Mehari believed in the plastic revolution, we at Yes Provence believe in the green revolution!

Underneath the vintage bodywork, which is molded identically to the original model, we have added an electric motor: the Mehari is a true condensation of two eras, with its vintage look and its environmentally friendly technology. Who said it was better before?

The most striking thing about driving an electric Mehari is...the silence! No more engine noises in your ears, you will finally hear the cicadas while driving! This light and discreet vehicle will make you discover new sensations of freedom, you will enjoy the scents of Provence, the wind in your hair... Not to mention that you will no longer have to think about the gearbox. A simple pressure on the lever and you pass in position forward, stop or reverse.

The battery life is 90 kilometers. Recharge wherever you want, the cable is in the trunk! 90 kilometers is more than enough to allow you to cover several itineraries of the road book that we give you at your departure. You will discover unusual places or that few people know, between wine tasting, breathtaking views in the Alpilles, and many other surprises!

With its simple mechanical operation, the Mehari almost drives itself. Except for the absence of power steering, which means that you have to give a little elbow grease in the turns, a common characteristic of old cars... Another advice, maintain sufficient safety distances, because the brake is quite long.

Other than that, it's just happiness !
