the Palace of Popes
Avignon is nicknamed "the city of the Popes" because of its palace, which once housed several popes of the Christian West, and is the largest of the Gothic buildings of the Middle Ages. The visit is worthwhile, but you can simply admire its facade in one of the cafes in the Palace Square.
Pont of Avignon
Emblem of Avignon, the Saint-Bénézet bridge is composed of 4 arches but does not allow to link the city to the Barthelasse island, on the other side of the Rhône. You can walk on it (sing and dance too if you want).
